Ladner actress Katelyn Mager received multiple honours at the Joey Awards earlier this month.

She came away with three awards and was nominated for seven overall.

“I was really shocked, actually. I wasn’t even expecting to win one,” said Mager, 13.

She won awards for her work in the feature film Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters (Young Ensemble Cast in a Made for Television/Straight to Video Feature/Feature Film), short film Floodplain (Young Actress age 11-12 in a Short Film) and Hallmark TV series When Calls the Heart (Young Ensemble Cast in a Dramatic TV Series).

She said going to the awards ceremony was really fun because she got to get dressed up, see friends and hang out with people she hasn’t seen in a long time.

She played Young Thalia in Sea of Monsters. Mager, who took sword training for the role, called working on the film a great experience.

Mager played Young Vic on Floodplain, which was shown at the Cannes Film Festival.

She also recently found out she’ll be back for a second season on When Calls the Heart. The series is set in the 1900s and filmed in Fort Langley.

The Joey Awards, which celebrate young Canadian performers, were handed out at a ceremony in New Westminster.

It marked the first year for the awards.
