Tsawwassen author Ian Kent has just released Westcoast Chronicles, the third in his Westcoast Series.

This series is a trilogy covering historic events and adventures of Fort Victoria and B.C.’s west coast in the 1850’s, beginning with Westcoast Legacy, the exciting adventure of British Colonial beginnings and Spanish Gold which started it all, followed by a prequel/sequel Westcoast Bounty.

Now we see Westcoast Chronicles, which continues through the last half of the 1800’s.

As always, Kent claims that his historic novels are at least 90 per cent true, with respect to the events and characters of the time.

This story is told through the life of Vickie, from her birth on a sailing ship in Victoria harbour, through her childhood in a wild and dangerous Victoria that included goldrushes, epidemics, racial uprising and wars, opium and gambling dens, and the largest assemblage of whore houses on North America’s west coast.

Vickie thrives on all of this, running a hotel and bawdy house herself, with a reputation of a no-nonsense vigilante who strives to improve the lives of women, eventually having a torrid affair with a European Count, all financed by her inate skills at gambling.

For those who want to learn the real truth about Victoria’s ‘meek and mild’ historical reputation, this is a “must read.”

Now available on Amazon and will also join the others soon as an Audible Book, for those who enjoy listening to the story, and is coming to your library. This volume has recently been accepted into the ‘Local Indie Author’ collection of the Fraser Valley Regional Library.
