It’s been easy to spot the abc Country Restaurant by its distinctive red tractor.

Ladner is losing a prominent local business that's closing after more than two decades.

Owned by the Ramji family, the abc Country Restaurant on Ladner Trunk Road is shutting its doors for good tomorrow after serving the community for the last quartercentury.

"It's been a joy to look after the communities of Ladner and Tsawwassen for the last 25 years," said Ali Ramji. "But for economic reasons, the time came when we had to say goodbye."

The family is maintaining its other location in Richmond.

Identifiable by the large red tractor outside, the restaurant has become more than just a place to get something to eat. It's become a meeting place for many in the community.

Ramji said the restaurant has received much love, warmth and care from the community since word of the pending closure has spread around town, with many customers stopping by with cards, gifts and kind words for the staff.

"We have really enjoyed tremendous loyalty, dedication and commitment from staff over the years," he said.

Ramji added they are able to accommodate all of the Ladner staff at the Richmond restaurant, which is located at the north end of No. 3 Road by Canadian Tire.

He said the restaurant is going proudly into local history after having made many good memories by providing sustenance with a smile.

He said the abc location has become part of the fabric of the community, so the restaurant's closing will leave a gap.

Ramji said the family and staff at abc Country Restaurant have a deep gratitude to the community for 25 great years in Ladner.
