Asia-Pacific based author Bjorn Turmann will be speaking at a special event today at Black Bond Books in Ladner.
Born and raised in Vancouver, Turmann, a former Microsoft executive, filmmaker and author of three novels, moved to Asia in 1993.
He will read from his novels and speak about his experiences as an author living in Bangkok from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.
Overwaitea Food Group, which operates SaveOn-Foods, PriceSmart Foods, Cooper's Foods and Urban Fare grocery stores, ranked second overall in Greenpeace's Emerging From the Deep Report, which ranks Canadian supermarkets, including the country's eight major grocery chains, on seafood sustainability.
Overwaitea came in with a score of 59 per cent, which is up from last year's score of 51 per cent.
Since 2009, the company has moved to implementing a seafood sustainability rating system and a customer education and awareness program.
