CAPTIN gives Reach campaign a boost with $10,000 donation

CAPTIN Toyota continued its support of local communities with a $10,000 donation last month to Reach Child and Youth Development Foundation to help build a centre in Ladner for children and youth with special needs.

"We are grateful for this donation," said Barbara Wallick, chair of Reach Child and Youth Development Foundation, "It will go a long way towards our Building for Children Together project goal of building a new 20,000-square-foot facility in the heart of Ladner that will fill the need for a more accessible, community-based centre for children and youth with autism, Down syndrome, fetal alcohol spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities. The new centre will also provide an inclusive preschool with an accessible community playground and a large meeting room for community use."

CAPTIN president Ray Tanguay said the donation is part of the Toyota Cares program that strives to assist the communities that they live and work in by supporting local organizations focused on the areas of environment, education and safety.

"Our ultimate goal is to contribute to society," said Tanguay. "We are always looking at ways we can help the community to reinforce our values. Reach represents the values in our Toyota Cares program and the role we play in community."

Canadian Autoparts Toyota, Inc. (CAPTIN) was incorporated in 1983 by Toyota Motor Corporation and is responsible for die design, development and manufacturing of aluminum wheels for Toyota.

In addition to this donation, CAPTIN was a presenting sponsor at the Reach for the Stars: An Evening of Inspiration event in February that brought in close to $50,000 for Reach's building campaign and donated two sets of custom rims to the event's silent auction.

This fall, CAPTIN will once again be supporting Reach's annual general meeting by sponsoring children's activities and volunteering employees for the day.

The Building for Children Together campaign is a partnership between Reach, the Corporation of Delta and the Ladner Tsawwassen Kinsmen Club. Delta has provided the land at Memorial Park, while Reach and the Kinsmen are raising the $4 million to build the centre.
