While waiting behind several vehicles near a local construction zone, I began to ponder the recent changes that have come to our municipality. The new mall, condos and pending housing developments will no doubt change the identity of Tsawwassen and Ladner.
The changes in our municipality are happening at lightning speed. Sometimes, though, personal change takes a lot longer. Maybe you're like me. You desire to be different, but you don't know how. Anger, bitterness, or shame, seem to dog you. If only we could change as quickly as our municipality!
There is hope for change. Jesus promised in John 10:10: "My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life" (NLT). Now that sounds much better. Jesus has offered to transform us if we'd only submit to him.
When he died on the cross, he paid the price for sin. That means that all of our personal "yuck" died with him. So, by believing in him, and telling him that you're sorry for your sins, your life can change. It's true. You can start over. You can be different. You can be forgiven.
Our municipality is changing quickly. Hope for personal change is found in the person of Jesus Christ. He stands waiting for you. He offers long-lasting change from the inside out.
