Body Engineered: Functional Movement Training works with dancers at the Delta studio on an individual basis, providing assessments and working on specific concerns they have.

"We're trying to promote long-term health for the dancers," said Robin Turner, who runs Body Engineered along with Michaela Colluney.

The married couple, which has two kids that go to Deas Island Dance, started helping dancers there last September.

Dance student Julia Lowndes said working with Body Engineered has helped her a lot with a cut on her foot as well as becoming more flexible throughout her hips and hamstrings.

"As with any athlete, flexibility is key for dancers to perform at their best and to keep injury free," said Deas Island Dance owner and director Lesley Benham, adding she's pleased Body Engineered is helping dancers at the studio. "Our ballet intensive students receive seminars on injury prevention, Pilates and nutrition and now we can add fascial stretch therapy to that list."

Body Engineered has locations in Tsawwassen and Vancouver.
