Times have certainly changed in the world of television and technology, and Delta Cable has started working to bring all its customers up to date.

While the majority of Delta Cable customers, and cable TV subscribers in general, have already made the switch to digital, some are still getting their cable through the old analog signal. In the near future, however, the local cable company will no longer be supporting that signal, which means that soon all Delta Cable customers will be required to upgrade to digital cable.

"It's a small percentage," said spokesperson Tannis Goodfellow. "Most of our customers are on digital."

Goodfellow said the company has started contacting those customers that will need to upgrade. She added the company is offering

special upgrade offers and a new scaled down remote control to help with the transition.

Upgrading to digital does come with a cost, which starts at an additional $7.95 a month for basic cable and can go up or down from there depending on each customer's needs and existing services.

"It's just the next step in technology. It's change, we empathize and understand that," she said, adding that switching to digital opens up many more services to customers.

Goodfellow said the transition will be a slow one, with no concrete timeline for the complete removal of the analog signal, however, a small number of channels have already been moved over to strictly digital.

She said anyone with questions about the transition can visit the Delta Cable office on Ladner Trunk Road to see a digital cable demonstration.
