Strawberry season paid big dividends for the Reach Child and Youth Development Society thanks to Emma Lea Farms and its customers.

Emma Lea, a fruit and vegetable farm on Westham Island, held its second annual fundraiser last month. Proceeds from hotdog, milkshake and, most importantly, strawberry sundaes totaled $4,604.87, which is double last year’s inaugural event.

The cheque presentation follows hot on the heels of Reach’s unveiling of its future home in the heart of Ladner and donor recognition event.

A non-profit that has been providing programs and services to children with special needs and their families for more than 50 years, Reach recently reached the halfway point of a $5 million fundraising campaign to build a new centre in the heart of Ladner.
