Delta 7-Eleven stores will be giving away 4,500 Slurpee drinks between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. today to celebrate the chain's 45th birthday.

This much-anticipated tradition is one of Canada's largest giveaways with nearly 750,000 Canadians getting the chance to cool down and celebrate all things Slurpee.

This year, 7-Eleven is encouraging people to organize their own Slurpee run, make it as creative and original as possible, then post their photos to Slurpee.ca or Facebook. com/SlurpeeCanada for a chance to win prizes.

Earlier this year, Thrifty Foods donated $1 from every four-pound bag of certified organic Buck Brand Citrus navel oranges to the B.C. Lions Society for Children with Disabilities. Over the course of three weeks, Thrifty Foods customers raised over $62,000, all of which went toward camp registration fees at Squamish and Shawnigan. Those camps have now opened.

"Without these generous donations, some children with disabilities could not gain access to Easter Seals camp," said B.C. Lions Society for Children with Disabilities president and CEO Stephen Miller.
