Equestrian centre earns certificate

Ladner's Imperial Stables has completed the Farm and Ranch Safety and Health Association's Certificate of Recognition program.

Ladner's Imperial Stables has completed the Farm and Ranch Safety and Health Association's Certificate of Recognition program.

"Pretty much what it entails is developing a health and safety program that goes above and beyond legislation," said Imperial Stables manager Angela Lalonde.

The facility received the certificate last month.

Some of the requirements included monthly farm inspections, making sure employees were following safe work procedures and an internal audit.

Imperial Stables is a boarding and training facility and also offers horse riding lessons.

Lalonde said it is the first equestrian centre to go through the Certificate of Recognition program.

"I think it's good for the staff to feel like it's a safe environment. They can come to us with problems," said Lalonde. "We have monthly meetings. It just keeps the atmosphere and everyone kind of feeling positive about what's going on."
