Flavours of Ladner at Save-On

Supermarket puts local products in the spotlight at event next month

The Ladner SaveOnFoods is inviting the community to a Flavours of Ladner event next month.

There will be from 20 to 25 products from around B.C. available for sampling, said new store manager Ryan Dennis.

Examples include produce from Millennium Pacific, a family-run, 30acre greenhouse in Ladner, and bread from Langley's A Bread Affair, which had the "number one selling bread at the Ladner Village Market," Dennis said.

Other items include fruit crisps from Horseshoe Bay, salad dressings from Abbotsford and organic chocolate bars from Cobble Hill.

Representatives from the various businesses will be coming in to taste test the products with the customers, Dennis noted.

He said customers really want to see local products in the store and that Save-On wants to give people a platform to sell products they're making here in Ladner.

"We want to put our name out there so that local people looking to bring products in can come and see me in the store," Dennis said.

There will also be a "spin the wheel" fundraiser for Delta Hospital where the store will give away Save-On-More points for donations.

The goal is to raise $3,105 for a Holter monitor, a portable device that tracks heart activity.

Flavours of Ladner takes place Saturday, April 21 from noon to 4 p.m.
