Illuminaté Restorante is celebrating a decade of bringing fine Italian cuisine to Tsawwassen.
Chef Roland Smith and his wife Joeqyna opened the doors of their restaurant on Oct. 12, 2005 with the aim of bringing a quality Italian-inspired food experience to South Delta.
And after 10 years, the focus remains on continuing to offer a superior casual fine dining experience, using many local and organic ingredients, at an affordable price.
"He takes pride in what he makes and creates," Joeqyna said. "All of his ingredients are fresh."
Everything, down to the chicken stock, is made in house.
"We use local ingredients as much as we can," she said, adding the chicken is free range, organic sourced from a farm in Chilliwack and all the beef used is grass fed from B.C. or Alberta.
"We're always changing our menus seasonally,"
Roland said, adding he strives to find and source local, organic and sustainably produced ingredients, and often works with Earthwise and Westham Island Herb Farm.
The couple also strives to give back to the community, often donating dinners to fundraisers for Delta Hospice and the Delta Hospital Foundation.
The restaurant has garnered a number of awards over the years, including many Delta Optimist Readers' Choice awards.
The warm dining area reflects a Tuscan theme and features the work of local artists. Painter Janice McLean's work is currently on display.
The restaurant also offers a private dining area that can seat up
to 24 and, in the summer, diners can enjoy the fresh air and garden atmosphere of the patio.
As a thank you for 10 years in the community, Illuminaté Restorante is later this month mailing out cards for a three-course meal for $29.95.
