Kin's celebrating 25 years with all sorts of activities

Contests, sampling and cancer fundraiser all on tap

Kin's Farm Market is having a chain-wide celebration to mark the business' 25th anniversary.

The special event is set for Saturday, Sept. 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at all Kin's stores, including the location in Ladner at Trenant Park Square.

"There will be tons of things going on that day," said marketing manager Lia Fletcher.

Planned activities include a guessing game with lemons in a jar, fruit and food sampling, a Canadian Cancer Society fundraiser and fruit basket draws.

There will also be a colouring contest with a chance to win tickets to the Vancouver Aquarium.

The chain, founded by brothers Kin Wah Leung and Kin Hun Leung, received an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2009.

They got started in 1983 with a produce stand at the Granville Island Market and four years later opened their initial Kin's Farm Market in Richmond. The chain now has close to 30 locations in B.C. and Ontario.

Its website is kinsfarmmarket.com. The chain also has a Facebook page and Twitter (@kinsfarmmarket).
