Ladner dentist Dr. Raj Dhiman is once again promoting a healthier Halloween with his Cash for Candy program.
Dhiman will pay $2 for every pound of Halloween candy a child exchanges at Riverside Dental in Ladner and a matching donation will then be made to the Delta Hospital Foundation towards Delta Hospital's greatest needs.
Dhiman knows how much fun Halloween can be for children and families, with much thought and preparation going into costumes and decorations. With children of his own, and many young patients frequenting the practice, he wants to make sure the health impacts of Halloween aren't overlooked.
The Cash for Candy program encourages children to moderate their sugar intake and helps to raise awareness of both oral and general health.
Halloween candy can be exchanged from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 2, from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3 and from 3 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4.
Children can weigh their candy on a large scale, donated by Ladner Safeway, to see exactly how much they are contributing to the hospital. Collected candy will then be donated to the local food bank.
