Local musicians will be showing their support for children with special needs by performing at McDonald's locations in South Delta Wednesday, May 6 as part of McHappy Day.

Proceeds from McHappy Day in Ladner and Tsawwassen will again be donated to Reach Child and Youth Development Society. Reach has been helping children with special needs for over 50 years and today serves close to 1,000 children with developmental disabilities.

Musical performances will take place between 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. At the Tsawwassen McDonald's, local songwriter and music teacher Christine Magee will be first to perform, followed by student musicians from the Southpointe Academy jazz ensemble and Songfire choir.

Amanda Stayner will be playing guitar and singing after school, while the Mike and Em Show kicks off the evening by performing covers of popular bands. The Jpegs, comprised of local music teacher Jenny Lundgren and local businesswoman Peg Keenleyside, round out the evening.

Entertainment at Ladner McDonald's begins with Ashley Lucky, leader of the steel band Tropical Heat, while the DSS Concert

Choir will perform in the early afternoon.

Marshall Forsythe, front man for Midnight Overture, which has played at Reach galas in 2013 and 2014, performs in the evening, while Natasha D'Agostino, a grad of the SDSS choral and drama departments, completes the entertainment roster.

McHappy Day will also feature visits from the Delta Fire Department, May Queen, B.C. Guide Dogs and Delta Gymnastics. For a full entertainment schedule, visit http://reachdevelopment. org/#news.
