Multiple Ovations go to Kenorah, Best Builders

Two local contractors now have several awards to add to their collections.

Locally based Kenorah Construction & Design and Best Builders both came away with multiple awards after the Greater Vancouver Home Builders' Association (GVHBA) presented its annual Ovation Awards in Vancouver last Saturday.

The awards honour excellence in new home and renovation design, construction, accessibility, sustainability, affordability, energy efficiency and heritage restoration.

"Residential construction is a major contributor to Metro Vancouver's economy and we are delighted to acknowledge the industry's biggest stars," said GVHBA president and CEO Peter Simpson.

Kenorah led the competition by being named a finalist in 15 categories. It won seven awards, including the coveted RenoMark Renovator of the Year - Large Volume. Its other awards included Best Kitchen Renovation - $100,000 and over; Best Kitchen and Greatroom Renovation; Best Bathroom Renovation - under $35,000; Best Renovated Room; Best Exterior Renovation; and Best Marketing Innovation: Renovator.

Best Builders took top spot in three categories: Best Renovation - $300,000-$499,999; Best renovation - $500,000-$799,999; and Best Custom Home - Under $500,000.

As well, local interior design firm Sarah Gallop Design Inc. was named as an associate on two award-winning projects: Best Custom Home - $1 million-$2 million and Best Outdoor Living Space - New or Renovated.
