New brewery in Tilbury is a real family affair

Greg Mills and sons open Four Winds Brewing

Tilbury is home to a new craft brewery.

Four Winds Brewing, a family business, opened its doors earlier this month with an open house that saw about 400 people come by.

"We kegged our first beers last week," said Greg Mills in an interview last week.

The new venture is led by Mills and his sons Brent, Sean and Adam.

Four Winds will have four full-time beers: an American-style pale ale, a West Coast-style IPA, a Belgian saison (a farmhouse type ale) and a pilsner. The first three are available now while the pilsner is on its way.

There are three other beers available only at the craft brewery's tasting room: a smoked porter, a Belgian witbier and a wildflower saison.

"Those limited batches in our tasting room will be changing all the time," said Brent, who has worked at a Vancouver brewery for the last three years.

Customers who come to the tasting room and would like beer to go can buy growlers.

"It's the freshest beer you can possibly get, straight from the tap at a brewery," said Brent.

Four Winds' bottling line should arrive early next month.

Greg Mills also said to look for their product at local bars, including Sharkey's Seafood Bar & Grille in Ladner.
