Delta Chamber of Commerce After 5 Business Socials are informal networking opportunities for local businesses and organizations. This month's event, hosted by the Beach Grove Golf Club, gave members the opportunity to witness Fortis BC's commitment to the wellbeing of communities first hand.

Fortis BC presented local non-profit Reach Child and Youth Development Society with a $10,000 contribution towards its Building for Children Together project.

Fortis BC funds initiatives that support stronger and healthier communities. Reach's project will see a child development centre constructed to support children with special needs and their families in an easily accessible location on municipallydonated land.

"We are very grateful to FortisBC. This donation will help provide more community-based services and as a result more children will be helped," said Renie D'Aquila, Reach's executive director.

Completion of the building, currently under construction adjacent to the Ladner Pioneer Library, is planned for September 2017.

"We're proud to be supporting Reach Society's efforts to make programs, services, resources and support more accessible," said Viviana Zanocco, community and aboriginal relations manager.

The Reach Foundation is appealing to the community to help raise the remaining $600,000 needed for furnishings and fixtures in order to complete the new centre.
