Realtors raise $4,600 for Delta Hospice Society

Annual luncheon supports important community service

Realtors from the Richmond/South Delta/Gulf Islands division of the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver hosted another successful holiday luncheon at Beach Grove Golf Club this winter, raising $4,600 for the Delta Hospice Society.

The luncheon is an annual event where local realtors raise money for charitable organizations within the community.

"We believe it's important to invest in the areas where we live and work," said Leon Prescesky, president of the local division.

"We are very pleased to support the Delta Hospice Society, They provide important support services to hundreds of local individuals and families and we are fortunate to have them in our community."

The Delta Hospice Society is able to direct 100 per cent of donations to care and support, not to administrative or fundraising costs. The Hospice Cottage Thrift Store in Tsawwassen helps to financially sustain the operational costs of the society.

"This donation has a direct impact on the lives of families and individuals in our community," said Delta Hospice executive director Nancy Macey. "We were able to meet the needs of over 16,000 calls and visits to our support centre last year in addition to the over 100 families that stayed in our hospice, so thank you again to all of the realtors for their support."

In 2012, realtors from the Richmond/South Delta/ Gulf Islands division raised $11,000 for local community organizations.
