The South Delta Food Bank was one of 10 local food banks surprised last month when Envision Financial made a total of $14,000 in donations as a random act of kindness.

"At Envision we're committed to making a difference in our local communities," said Shelley Besse, president of Envision Financial.

"Our local food banks share that commitment, which is why we're proud to provide them with this much-needed funding.

We value the services and assistance they provide to improve the lives of those who need a helping hand, making a positive impact in the local community and in the lives of our neighbours."

The company's commitment to giving back is not purely financial. In 2011, employees spent more than 328 hours volunteering their time a local food banks and Envision branches regularly hold food drives throughout the year.

White Paper Co. is going green with solar panels.

The office supplies company, which has its head office in Delta, made a commitment in 2010 to become a completely carbon neutral company; and this past January the company took a major step toward that goal with the installation of solar panels at its Markham, Ontario branch. The power generated will not only power that facility but will also help generate power for other businesses in the surrounding area.
