A shredding event at Re/Max Progroup in Tsawwassen earlier this month saw 3.25 tonnes of paper shredded and $2,400 raised for Reach Child and Youth Development Society.

Volunteers from Re/Max Progroup Realty and South Delta Financial Group - Raymond James hosted the charity shredding event that also received support from 1-800 Shredding owner Tino Fluckiger.

"We are proud to be a partner in this event," said Bob Cooke of Re/Max. "All the agents and staff at Re/Max Progroup are committed to helping our South Delta communities and its various charities. Giving back to those who have supported us is what it is all about."

All funds raised go to Reach's Building for Children Together Campaign, which is poised to break ground on a new child development centre in the heart of Ladner this summer.

"We are deeply grateful for the continuing commitment that Re/Max Progroup, South Delta Financial Group and 1-800-Shredding have shown to children with special needs in this community," said Reach fundraising manager Joni Wright.

To date, $4 million of the $5 million needed to build the centre has been raised from individual and community donors.

The next shredding opportunity will be on Saturday, Nov. 5 at South Delta Financial Group - Raymond James in Ladner. The Raymond James Foundation will match funds raised at that event.

Reach Child and Youth Development Society in East Ladner has been providing services since 1959. Over 1,000 children and their families benefit from its services on an annual basis.
