Delta and Richmond area employers are expecting a steady hiring climate for the final quarter of 2013, according to the latest Manpower employment outlook survey.

Delta and Richmond area employers are expecting a steady hiring climate for the final quarter of 2013, according to the latest Manpower employment outlook survey.

"Survey data reveals that 20 per cent of employers plan to hire for the upcoming quarter (October to December), while three per cent anticipate cutbacks," said Jeff Polkinghorne of Manpower's Vancouver office.

Another 70 per cent of employers plan to maintain current staffing levels, while seven per cent are unsure of future hiring intentions.

"With seasonal variations removed from the data, Richmond-Delta's fourth quarter net employment outlook of 16 per cent is a decrease of eight percentage points when compared to the previous quarterly outlook," he said. "However, it is unchanged from the outlook reported during the same time last year, indicating a favourable hiring pace for the upcoming months."

"As a brand, Holl is Wealth embraces our existing independent and entrepreneurial spirit while recognizing the stability that comes from being a part of one of Canada's oldest and most respected banks," said Tuula Jalasjaa, managing director and head of DundeeWealth's retail advisor network.

An interesting twist of fate brought a little international attention, and a new product, to one local business.

In August, a couple from Hawaii visited Ladner and had their photo taken in front of Hawaiian Beach Tanning Salon. They submitted their photo to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser newspaper, which runs photos from Hawaiian residents who find signs of Hawaiian life outside of the islands.

As a result of seeing the photo, Hawaiian Beach owner John Holmes was contacted by a Hawaiian suntan lotion company, Maui Babe, about carrying their products in his store.
