A subdued hiring climate is forecast for Delta and Richmond in the first quarter of 2016, according to the latest Manpower employment outlook survey.

"Survey data reveals that three per cent of employers plan to hire for the upcoming quarter (January to March), while 10 per cent anticipate cutbacks," said Jeff Polkinghorne of Manpower's Vancouver office.

Another 87 per cent of employers plan to maintain current staff levels in the upcoming quarter.

The area's first quarter net employment outlook is a 17 percentage point decrease from the outlook reported during the same time last year, Polkinghorne said.

Six Delta accounting students recently joined the ranks of the province's chartered professional accountants.

Nicole Palle, Selena Christine Bhatt, Emanjit Johal, Christopher MacCulloch, Dennis Prettejohn and Jordan Yee all wrote and passed the national Common Final Examination (CFE). Palle, who is with PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLP, is one of eight B.C. students who made the honour roll with her outstanding results on the multi-day exam.
