Talisman gets 3 Georgies for Tsawwassen Springs

A local development received accolades from the homebuilders' industry last weekend.

Talisman Homes Ltd. won the gold Georgie Award for Best Single Family Home up to 2,000 square feet under $500,000 – Production for its Tsawwassen Springs development.

Talisman Homes also won two silver Georgies in the Best Single Family Home over 2,000 square feet under $750,000 – Production for Tsawwassen Springs.

Three local companies also won silver Georgie Awards in a number of categories.

Sarah Gallop Design was named a finalist for nine projects in seven different award categories, Best Builders was named a finalist for seven awards and Kenorah Construction and Design was a finalist in two award categories.

The Canadian Home Builders' Association of British Columbia hands out the awards annually recognizing the best of B.C.'s residential construction industry. They were presented last Saturday at the 22nd annual Georgie Awards gala in Vancouver.

Thrifty Foods is raising money this month to help send children with disabilities to camp.

As part of the I Heart Camp fundraiser, from Feb. 5 to 25, $1 from the sale of every four-pound bag of certified organic Buck Brand Citrus navel oranges at Thrifty Foods will go to the B.C. Lions Society and to fund kids camp fees at Easter Seals Camp Shawnigan and Camp Squamish.

An additional $1 will be donated by Thrifty Foods on behalf of every customer who buys the bag of Buck navel oranges and shows their cashier the Thrifty Foods App "Check This Out" page on their mobile device.

Envision Financial is offering $27,000 in education awards this year.

For the 18th consecutive year, Envision Financial is encouraging secondary and post-secondary students throughout B.C. to apply for one of its many education awards.

Eleven education awards of $2,000 each will be presented to qualifying secondary and post-secondary students throughout the province who demonstrate outstanding school and community involvement.

As well, in recognition of Envision Financial's innovative community program, The Full Cupboard, two more education awards of $2,500 each will be offered.
