Clair Oates markets her bed and breakfast operation as "the spare bedroom in Ladner."
She says she meets a lot of new people all the time and quite a few of them are relatives of Ladner residents.
"Most of my business, I'd say 80 per cent of it, is people who know people in Ladner," says Oates, who's been operating Clair's Bed & Breakfast for a decade.
The popular B&B, a meticulously maintained heritage home on the corner of 48th Avenue and Bridge Street, has six rooms and space for 14 guests.
Oates says it's exciting to get an Optimist Readers' Choice Award for the first time.
"It's exciting to be recognized in Ladner and Delta," she says.
