Thrifty Foods kicked off its Orange You Glad You Helped A Kid fundraiser last week.

From Feb. 13 until March

5, the grocery store is donating $1 from the sale of every four-pound bag of certified organic Buck Brand navel oranges to a dozen KidSport chapters in B.C., including KidSport Delta.

"As part of our ongoing commitment to improve the quality of life in our communities, the in-store campaign will help hundreds of children join organized sport activities like soccer, hockey and karate," said Thrifty Foods general manager Jim Dores.

"Providing disadvantaged youth with a season of sport does more than just improve their fitness and strength," said Pete Quevillon, KidSport B.C. director. "Skills including leadership, decision making, critical thinking, hard work, dedication and self confidence are part of the benefit each child receives and this is what makes the total experience of access to organized sport so impactful."
