The Delta Chamber of Commerce is hosting a wellness workshop next Tuesday.

WellnessFits is a free comprehensive workplace wellness program that offers businesses and organizations the resources and support they need to create healthy workplace programs.

"We're very excited we're able to offer this free for businesses," said Sue MacPhail, WellnessFits coordinator.

Resources include online tools and information on healthy eating, physical activity, healthy minds, being tobacco-free, and sun and UV awareness. There are options to address the different needs of small, medium and large businesses. The program also offers customized support and consultation via phone, e-mail and on-site visits.

MacPhail, who helped develop the new program, will be presenting the workshop.

The presentation is designed to introduce small and medium sized business owners and employers to the business case for workplace wellness, simple and effective ways to create healthier work environments and how to create an action plan for bringing wellness to the workplace.

Century Group, a real estate development and property management company, is one local business that will be attending the workshop.

A focus for the company this year is "to try and increase the overall wellbeing of our staff and put

tools in front of them so they can get involved," said Barbara Hughes, director of human resources.

WellnessFits is a partnership of the Canadian Cancer Society and the province's Healthy Families B.C. initiative.

The Fit Wellness Into Your Workplace workshop is set for Tuesday, Jan. 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Delta Town & Country Inn. It is free for chamber members.
