Thirty-six cats at the Delta Community Animal Shelter are now in new homes as a result of last Saturday's Kitty Carnival.

The shelter has recently been inundated with cats, resulting in volumes beyond its capacity. In response, it organized a Kitty Carnival, offering kittens and cats for a one-day special adoption fee of $75.

During the carnival, the shelter received a total of 350 visitors.

An additional 250 people visited to the satellite adoption centre at the Tsawwassen Town Centre Mall.

"I would like to thank the community for their support towards our shelter," said Mayor Lois Jackson. "It is so great to see our residents responding to the shelter's call for assistance; we truly live in a great community."

For anyone who didn't get a chance to visit the carnival, there are still over 40 cats available for adoption at the shelter, which anticipates cat intake volumes to continue to rise.
