Delta police are investigating a pair of accidents that snarled traffic in Ladner Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

The 3500 block of Arthur Drive was closed for several hours just after 6 p.m. Tuesday night after a tractor/trailer unit jackknifed partially into the ditch, blocking both lanes of traffic.

According to police, the truck driver had picked up a load of produce and attempted to make a turn onto Arthur Drive, but the truck was too big for the turn.

Police issued the driver a violation ticket for an improper right turn, which comes with a $121 fine. The road was closed for some time until a tow truck could right the trailer and tow it from the area.

Just before 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning, police responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Harvest Drive and Ladner Trunk Road.

Police say a vehicle travelling westbound turned left to travel southbound when it collided with a vehicle that was travelling eastbound on Ladner Trunk Road.

One person was transported to Delta Hospital for treatment of a minor injury. No charges were laid. Traffic was tied up as police conducted their investigation. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
