EXHIBITS

B.C. Ferries: A Distinctive Destination: The mouth of the Fraser River has been a natural point of departure between the mainland and the islands for thousands of years. Millions of people use B.C. Ferries annually, passing through our community. This exhibit will look at how this distinctive destination has changed and has been celebrated since its construction in the late 1950s.

Exhibit showing Feb. 15 to 19 at Delta Municipal Hall Pacific Flyaway: The delta is an amazing earth feature that attracts all kinds of creatures because of the rich abundance of resources available here.

Every spring and fall, thousands of birds travel from South America to the Arctic and back in order to find food and breeding grounds. A major stop on this route is the Fraser delta, where fat stores can be restored so the birds can complete their long journey.

Exhibit showing Feb. 15 to 21 at North Delta Recreation Centre Delta by the Sea: The History and Importance of Fishing and the Canneries in Delta: A photographic exhibit showcasing Delta's heritage connection with fishing and the ocean. From Aboriginal fishing villages to present day fishing trawlers, the people of Delta's history is intertwined with the Fraser River and the ocean. This exhibit shows pictures from Delta's fishing roots and landscape, and explores the connection the people of Delta have with the fishing and canning industry.

Exhibit showing Feb. 15 to 27 at the Delta Archives
