Drivers trying to get between Ladner and Tsawwassen over the next several days should stick to the highway.
The intersection of Arthur Drive and 34B Avenue will be closed to traffic starting today at 7 p.m. until Monday at 5 a.m. as crews work to replace a culvert.
Motorists are being advised to use Highway 17A as an alternate route.
After March 21, traffic will be reduced to single lane alternating for seven to 10 days as work continues.
The closure will also effect bus service along the route.
The 601 heading to Bridgeport will detour via 53 Street, Deltaport Way, Highway 17, Ladner Trunk Road and Harvest Drive before resuming its regular route. As for the other direction, the 601 will detour via the Ladner Exchange, Harvest Drive, Ladner Trunk Road, Highway 17, Arthur Drive exit and 53 Street before resuming the regular route.
At stops along Arthur Drive and a portion of Ladner Trunk Road, riders have been advised to board on either Harvest Drive or Deltaport Way.
The service changes are in effect from 7 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. on Monday.
UPDATE: Due to unanticipated delays, the intersection will remain closed until Monday evening.
