Motorists should expect a nasty late afternoon commute if you use Ladner Trunk Road and Highway 17A.

Delta firefighters, paramedics and Delta Police are at the scene of what witnesses are describing as a five-car motor-vehicle incident westbound on Ladner Trunk at 17A.

Lindsay William-Ross, who is the editor of Vancouver Is Awesome, one of the Optimist's sister publications, was on a transit bus heading back to her home in Ladner when the bus came to a stop near the accident scene.

She said that citizens got out of their cars and helped out right away as emergency crews arrived on scene.

She said thankfully no one appears to be trapped in their vehicles or injured.

Just before 6:15 p.m., Delta Police updated the Optimist saying that the collision involved four vehicles.

"One vehicle has flipped as a result of the collision. Injuries appear to be minor," said Sgt. James Sandberg. "Ladner Truck Road west of Highway 17A is currently closed and one lane southbound on Highway 17A is also closed. Lane closures are expected for only a short period of time while tow trucks remove the involved vehicles and others."
