To acknowledge and honour the service of active, reserve and retired military personnel, and cadets, BC Ferries is once again offering complimentary travel on Remembrance Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11.

According to a news release from BC Ferries, the complimentary fare applies to passenger fares for those presenting official Canadian military identification or travelling in uniform.

All Canadian flags on BC Ferries’ vessels will fly at half-mast on Remembrance Day in respect of veterans and active military personnel. Two minutes of silence will occur at 11 a.m. on ships and at terminals.

British Columbia’s seniors can also travel free on Remembrance Day with the presentation of a BC Services Card, BC Driver’s License, BC Identification Card or Birth Certificate.

Throughout the year, BC Ferries offers complimentary travel to B.C. seniors from Monday through Thursday, except on provincial holidays.

Remembrance Day, however, is excluded from that exception.

BC Ferries notes that these free fares are not applicable on the Inside Passage, Haida Gwaii and Central Coast Connector routes.
