Assistant pros Cory Rudston-Brown and Brad Le Page were busy raising awareness and funds for ALS at Beach Grove Golf Club on Thursday.

They raised an estimated $2,000 as part of the PGA of B.C. Golf A Thon for ALS.

"The golf was good, it was a long day but it was a lot of fun," said Le Page, who had to stop after playing 81 holes to go to work.

Rudston-Brown went from sunrise to sunset and played 150 holes, Le Page noted.

"We just had a really good day out there. It was a great cause so I was happy to be out there," said Le Page, who took part in the golf a thon for the first time.

He said his arms and legs were feeling not bad after all that golf but Rudston-Brown was a "little worse off than I was."

Beach Grove Golf Club, one of the 39 courses around the province that participated in the golf a thon, has supported the event since 2007.

ALS is also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. It is a rapidly progressive neuromuscular degenerative disease.

"It attacks the motor neurons that transmit electrical impulses from the brain to the voluntary muscles in the body. When these muscles fail to receive messages, they lose strength, atrophy and die," the ALS Society of B.C.'s website states.
