Beer bottle assault on Anmore taxi driver under investigation

The operator suffered minor injuries to his hand, and police are now turning to the public to help identify the suspect passenger.

A taxi driver in Anmore sustained minor injuries after a passenger broke through the glass partition and hit him with a beer bottle.

Coquitlam RCMP have released captured images of the suspect and are now turning to the public in hopes he can be identified to move the investigation forward.

Spokesperson Cpl. Alex Hodgins explained the incident took place on Aug. 22 when Mounties responded to reports of an assault near Sunnyside Road and East Road in the Spirit Park area of the village.

She said the passenger assaulted the driver with a beer bottle after shattering the glass barrier inside the vehicle, and the operator endured injuries to his hand.

"Everyone should feel safe in their workplace," added Hodgins in a news release today (Oct. 12).

"In this instance, a taxi driver was assaulted with a beer bottle while working. This is unacceptable and we take these kinds of reports seriously."

The suspect is described as:

  • 30 to 35 years old
  • Between 5'7" and 5'10"
  • Medium build
  • Beard
  • Last seen wearing...

    • Carrying blue shopping bags
