KinVillage is once again getting ready for its annual Giant Book Sale, but more donations are needed.

Volunteer coordinator Judith Dinwoodie said donations are down slightly so far this year.

Running Jan. 28 to 30 at KinVillage Community Centre in Tsawwassen, the sale usually brings in about 20,000 books. Any donations must be dropped off by Tuesday, Jan. 26 to give volunteers time to sort the titles before setting up for the sale.

In addition to gently used books, there will also be jigsaw puzzles, games, CDs and DVDs.

The sale features books of all kinds, from romance and best sellers to biographies, historical and children’s stories.

Dinwoodie said the only donations that are not accepted are encyclopedias, text books, magazines and computer books, which can become outdated.

Paperbacks are generally $1, hard covers $2 and it’s $3 or $4 for large coffee-table type books.

Now in its 11th year, last year’s sale raised $10,000.

All proceeds from this year’s sale will go towards purchasing a new bus for KinVillage. Dinwoodie said the centre is in the final fundraising push to purchase a replacement for the current bus, which is more than 16 years old.

This year’s Giant Book Sale takes place at KinVillage Community Centre, 5430-10th Ave., on Thursday, Jan. 28 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., Friday, Jan. 29 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday, Jan. 30 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Donations can be dropped off at the community centre from 9 a.m. until noon on weekdays.
