Brothers have everything but site as they look to start archery club

Equipment, insurance and members lined up, but location proving elusive

Ladner's Steve and Geoff Wright are hoping to start an archery club in Delta.

The 21-year-old twin brothers say they have made a lot of progress since deciding in August to try and get a club going but are still looking for a location.

"We've got equipment, we have insurance, we have interest, we just don't have a space," said Steve, adding they're now members of the B.C. Archery Association and Canada's national archery organization.

The brothers said they asked Delta about possible locations like Dugald Morrison Park, Boundary Bay Airport and a field behind their Ladner home but were turned down.

They also inquired with the Delta-Ladner Rod and Gun Club, where they used to shoot when they were younger.

"Unfortunately we don't have a facility to shoot at right now," the rod and gun club's Dennis Zentner told the Optimist, noting that's been the case for the last two or three years.

The Wrights, who currently practice in their backyard, are hoping someone in the community might have an idea about a possible spot for the club and let them know about it.

The brothers got started in archery about 10 years ago.

They represented Delta at the 2006 B.C. Summer Games and also have teaching experience.
