The Delta Police Pipe Band took part in the prestigious Netherlands Tattoo last year.

One of the two nights is sold out and only a few tickets remain for the other Robbie Burns dinner being hosted by the Delta Police Pipe Band later this month.

Set for the Sacred Heart Church Hall on Ladner's Arthur Drive, the dinner to honour the late Scottish poet on Saturday, Jan. 23 is already sold out, but there are still a limited number of tickets available for the Friday, Jan. 22 event.

The dinners are the biggest fundraisers for the band, which in 2015 travelled to the Okanagan Military Tattoo in Vernon and also to the prestigious Netherlands Tattoo. The Delta Police Pipe Band was the only pipe band invited to this international show, which celebrated the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Holland by Canadian forces.

This year guests will be treated to a prime rib dinner, piping, highland dancing, singing, single malt whisky bar and, of course, the traditional Toast to the Haggis. Dancing to The Earthmen until the wee hours of the morning always concludes the evening.

It is one of the highlights of the social calendar in Delta and by selling over 800 tickets yearly it is considered the largest event of its kind in the entire world.

Tickets are $60 per person and be purchased at Grapes 4 U at 4857 Elliott St., Ladner, or can be reserved at 604-940-9463.
