It's August in South Delta and that means just one thing - it's time again for the annual Quilt Walk and Classic Car Show.

Thousands of locals and visitors alike will flock to Ladner Village this Sunday for the popular event.

Hosted by the Ladner Business Association and The Quilted Bear, the event is in its ninth year and typically attracts in the area of 10,000 people to see the hundreds of classic cars and colourful quilts.

Ladner Business Association president Brad Cooper said this week that he expects around 400 cars at the show this year, if the weather holds.

Initially a popular quilt exhibit, the addition of the classic cars came a few years after its inception.

The show typically attracts classic cars from around the region - hundreds of vintage car owners have attended the show every year to proudly show off their restored vehicles - from Cadillacs and Austin Minis to hot rods and muscle cars, like Camaros and Corvettes.

Each year, a myriad of quilts are put on display in many business windows while the cars are displayed along 48th Avenue and Delta Street. Most of the quilts will already be on display by Saturday night, allowing for a sneak peak during the Heart of Ladner Night Market, which runs from 4 to 9 p.m.

During Sunday's show, members of the Boundary Bay Quilters Guild will be in front of The Quilted Bear with quilt displays and demonstrations.

As well this year, larger quilts will be on display at the Free Flight Studio of Dance at 4942 Chisholm St.

In addition to the cars and quilts, organizers have also lined up lots of prizes, vendors, refreshments and entertainment.

Tom Cats is once again the featured entertainment and radio personality Tom Lucas will emcee the event.

The cars will be judged with the awards handed out between 3 and 4 p.m.

There will be vendors selling car-related merchandise, including die-cast collectable cars, shirts and aprons.

Cooper said there will be lots of food available throughout the day as well.

He said there are several hot dog vendors lined up, as well as mini doughnut and ice cream carts.

Local restaurant Bombay Joes will be selling food on the street again this year and, as usual, the Ladner Legion will have food and refreshments throughout the day,

Before heading out to take in all the cars and quilts, visitors can fill up at the pancake breakfast at the Ladner Legion on Delta Street between 8 and 11 a.m. The Legion is opening the beer garden and firing up the barbecue at lunch.

Both the cars and the quilts are on display between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
