The Ladner-Tsawwassen Branch of the Navy League of Canada will be holding registration for its new Navy League Cadet Corps on Thursday, Sept. 13 and 20 at 6: 30 p.m. at Delta Secondary School, 461551st St., Ladner. All boys and girls who are 9 to 12 years old are eligible to register. Cadets participate in sailing, canoeing, first aid, riflery, camping and a host of other activities. Delta Seniors Planning Team offers a free workshop for seniors on reducing health risks and maintaining good health through physical activity. It will be presented Saturday, Sept. 15 at 10 a.m. at McKee Seniors Recreation Centre at 5155-47th Ave., Ladner. Presenter is Sepia Sharma, Community Health Specialist, Fraser Health Authority. There will be a Parkinson's support group meeting Monday, Sept. 17 from 11 a.m. to 12: 30 p.m. at KinVillage. We are a group who either have Parkinson's Disease, or live/help someone who does have PD. We meet the third Monday of each month to talk, learn from each other, encourage each other, or just sit back and listen to those around us. The next regular meeting of the South Delta Low Vision Support Group will be held at the Ladner Pioneer Library on Monday, Sept. 17 at 1: 30 p.m. Note the permanent change of meeting dates from Tuesday to Monday. Canadian Federation of University Women South Delta is hosting an open house for prospective new members Tuesday, Sept. 18, 7 to 9 p.m. at the home of Cheryl McTait, 1232 Pacific Drive, Tsawwassen. If you are a woman with a post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate, residing in Ladner or Tsawwassen, you are cordially invited. With the fall and winter season not too far away, a discussion on plant propagation could just be your thing. On Tuesday, Sept. 18, the Evergreen Garden Club will host Egan Davis of the Van Dusen Gardens who will speak on that topic. The Boundary Bay Quilters Guild invites you to attend our meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 18. General registration for ElderCollege Delta's fall semester takes place Saturday, Sept. 15 at two sites: at the Tsawwassen Town Centre Mall from 10 to 11: 30 a.m. and at McKee House in Ladner from 1 to 2: 30 p.m. ElderCollege Delta is open to all 50 years and over. SPECIAL EVENTS

On Saturday, Sept. 15 there will be an art fair and open house at Cammidge House in Boundary Bay Regional Park from 1 to 3 p.m. with plein air artists, pottery, photographs. Refreshments will be served. There will also be an Earthwise Garden Tomato Festival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the corner of 3rd Avenue and Boundary Bay Road. Over 30 varieties of heirloom tomatoes along with produce and honey. Also, at Delta Heritage Air Park, 104th Street, (take exit 20 off 99) from 1 to 3 p.m. View planes, hear stories of flight - small cafe open. For more information call 604-948-1749.
