The South Delta Therapeutic Touch Network meets every second Wednesday of the month.

The next meeting/practice session in on July 13 at the Natural Comfort Wellness Centre in Tsawwassen.

The Delta Seniors Community Planning Team (DSCPT) invites the public to come and view the film screening of The Remaining Light: A documentary film about how we care for seniors on Thursday, July 14, at 10: 30 a.m. at Ladner Pioneer Library and on Tuesday, August 23, at 10 a.m. at the Tsawwassen Library. Canoe the Slough: Fraser River Stories Sunday, July 17, 6 - 9 p.m. Deas Island Regional Park. Hear stories of the Fraser River's past as you tour the serene, sheltered waters of Deas Slough. Explore local features as you paddle by farmland, fishing boats and rich estuary wetlands.

View eagle nests, herons and bog orchids. Basic canoeing instruction and equipment will be provided. At Deas Island, please bring life jackets for children under 23 kg. Storytime and Babytime have returned to your local Delta library. Babies, newborn to 23 months are welcomed with their parent/caregiver to a unique 30 minute drop-in Babytime program full of children's literature, song, rhyme and rhythm. If your child is 2 - 5 years old, come participate with them at Storytime or Pajama Storytime, halfhour programs of books, songs, felt stories and puppets. Check your local library for times.

Support Group Volunteers - Ladner. Are you interested in making a real and profound difference in the lives of people caring for a family member with Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia? Come join the Alzheimer Society of B.C.'s team of dedicated support facilitators. A commitment of 3 - 6 hours a month over a one year time period is required. Training is provided. BC Guide Dog Services is looking for volunteer boarding homes in Ladner for our dogs in training.

Dog Lovers needed to board our guide dogs training for approximately six months while they undergo advanced instruction. The dogs are training with our instructors Monday to Friday 8: 30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and are picked up and dropped off daily. The Canadian Cancer Society Volunteer Driver program in Ladner/ Tsawwassen is in need of more volunteer drivers to take patients to and from their treatment. Training and dispatch are provided. Time commitments are flexible. The Ladner/Tsawwassen Kinsmen Club invites new and old members to join us, the first and third Mondays of each month at Kin House in Ladner. Join the only all-Canadian service club. The Knitting Sisters is a group of ladies that love to knit and crochet for as many worthy causes as possible. We make many items such as hats, toques, scarves, slippers, blankets, baby items and more. There will be a Newfie Downhome Kitchen Party on Saturday, July 16, from 5: 30 to 11 p.m. at McKee Seniors Recreation Centre in Ladner. Dinner served from 5: 30-6: 30 p.m. Dancing & Fun at 7 p.m. Music by Doghouse. Jiggs Dinner with baron of beef, dessert, tea or coffee. For members: 18; guests: $20. A July birthday lunch will be held on Friday, July 29, at 12: 30 p.m. at McKee Seniors Recreation Centre it costs $6 for members and $7 for guests.

The Circle of Friends offers social events to active seniors like movies, theatre trips, potlucks and walks.

Come to the Burns Bog Conservation Society's Jog for the Bog 5km or 10km trail walk/run through Burns Bog and International Bog Day on July 24. The chip timed Jog for the Bog race will happen from 9 - 10 a.m. (registration begins at 8 a.m.).

The International Bog Day celebrations will follow, running from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. with free entertainment, eco-exhibitors, children's activities, and bog tours. Register for the run at www.jogforthebog.org.
