Community comes together for Food Bank dinner

On Wednesday night, Dec. 23, volunteers came together to serve up a take-away Christmas dinner hosted by the South Delta Food Bank Community Kitchen

The COVID-19 Grinch did not entirely steal an annual event where our Food Bank Community has always come together to celebrate Christmas for over a decade!

On Wednesday night, Dec. 23, volunteers came together to serve up a take-away Christmas dinner hosted by the South Delta Food Bank Community Kitchen.

Kudos to Pastor Danny Stebeck (Ladner Light House Church), and Joe Van Essen (South Delta Food Bank) for safely navigating through provincial COVID-19 regulations.

The Erhart family from Tsawwassen, Tanya and Justin Armstrong, Stavros Kyriakou, from Ladner, along with White Spot Restaurants, came through with sumptuous turkey dinners that our patrons could take home to enjoy in the comfort and safety of their homes.

The Rotary Club of Tsawwassen came through with hand bags for women and totes for men filled with goodies, as they do every year.

Again, our secret “Cookie Fairy” baked over a thousand cookies for kids and adults with a sweet tooth, while a new group of young donors came up with ample funds to purchase gift certificates for ice cream. Delta police has also been a regular supporter from the very start.

A big thank you to all our generous community donors and dedicated volunteers.

We look forward to 2021 where we can celebrate with more fun and ease.

In the meantime, we wish everyone a safe, joyous and healthy New Year!
