Over 350 stockings were filled as part of the 15th annual Stocking for Kids program this year.

"Two overflowing truck loads were delivered to Deltassist," said Shannon Taylor, promotions manager at the Tsawwassen Town Centre Mall.

The mall and the Delta Optimist sponsor the program.

Many groups, organizations, and individuals supported this program by adopting a stocking or stockings.

Local moms Sonja White and Tiffinie Hammerer took 150 stockings to distribute among their friends and family members while the TOOBs, Holly Elementary and a local church also filled numerous stockings, Taylor noted.

"These groups did a tremendous job, but we also thank the individual contributors," she said. "Every toy in every stocking is greatly appreciated and will be sure to make a little boy or girl very happy this Christmas!"

The program makes an appeal to the community to sponsor a stocking with a designated gender and age, fill it with appropriate new gifts and return it to the Tsawwassen Town Centre Mall for distribution by Deltassist Family and Community Services.
