COVID-19 fatalities continue to rise at Delta care home

The number of resident deaths due to COVID-19 at an East Ladner long-term care facility has sadly moved up again.

According to an update provided Thursday by the Good Samaritan Society, which operates the Delta View Care Centre, the number of resident deaths now stands at 10.

The society also notes there are currently 28 active employee and two resident cases, while eight residents and two employees have recovered.

Early last month, Fraser Health declared an outbreak at the care home, which previously had exposure events involving staff members, but no resident deaths.

Delta View is a 296-bed facility that is owned and operated by the society.

According to provincial health ministry’s COVID-19 update on Thursday, there were 723 new cases and 28 deaths in the province in the lkast 24 hours.

So far, there have been 587 deaths in B.C. due to the virus.
