Crime Beat: Pharmacist reports attempt to fill fraudulent prescription

The following are some of the calls the Delta police responded to in the previous week:

TSAWWASSEN

June 6, 5:55 p.m., 1200-block of Hunter Road: Complainant returned home to find their locked residence had suffered a break-in. The thieves entered the home by prying open a rear door. Forensic identification officers attended and processed the scene.

June 6, 8:35 p.m., 1600-block of Golf Club Drive: Residence broken into sometime during the day. Suspect broke rear ground floor window to enter the home. Residence ransacked with cupboards and drawers throughout all opened and contents strewn on the floor. Forensic identification officers attended and processed the scene.

June 7, 4:53 p.m., 5300-block of Wildwood Crescent: Complainant returned home to find home broken into. Point of entry appeared to be through an upstairs bedroom and several rooms were noticeably disturbed. Still under investigation.

June 8, 9:55 p.m., 1500-block of Farrell Avenue: Homeowner received a call from the security company indicating a motion alarm had been set off. The homeowner attended and found a rear glass slider window open. It is believed the thieves were scared off by the alarm as nothing stolen.

June 9, 8:24 p.m., 1600-block of Farrell Crescent: A late report received of a theft that had occurred overnight on June 6. An outdoor enclosed tent had been entered and several items stolen, including tools and other items.

June 10, 3:35 p.m., 1300-block of 56th Street: Store reported a male selected 15 to 20 items of clothing and then snuck out the front door without paying. No video surveillance available.

June 10, 11:50 a.m., 1700-block of 57th Street: A late report received of a break and enter to the garage. The garage door was left open about two feet and several items visible from the street were stolen. A neighbour had observed a male near the vehicles in the driveway and then leave on a skateboard with a large item in his hands. Theft reported after the complainant had heard there were several break and enters in the area. Nothing for forensic examination due to the time delay.

June 11, 8:50 a.m., 5300-block of 12th Avenue: A citizen observed a male throw a rock and smash a window in the health centre. Police attended and found a male in an agitated state with an odour of liquor emanating from his mouth. The suspect, who was not cooperative with police, was arrested and transported to cells.

June 13, 11:30 a.m., 1108-56th St.: A set of keys found at the corner of 8A Avenue and Dennison Crescent were turned into the Tsawwassen Community Police Station. Owner can claim on identification.

LADNER

June 6, 12:12 p.m., 5200-block of Ladner Trunk Road: The pharmacist contacted police to report a fraudulent prescription the suspect had attempted to fill. The suspect appears to have attempted to fill prescriptions in several other areas. Information to be circulated amongst pharmacies.

June 10, 5:18 p.m., 4800-block of 53rd Street: Complainant reported a male caller with a foreign accent had contacted him advising that a $2,500 refund was available for online services that were not provided. The complainant indicated he had used an online company earlier in the year to clear his computer of viruses. No information was given to the caller, nor was any money sent by Western Union as requested. Following the call the complainant noticed his laptop being remotely accessed and an unknown user opening his files. Police advised complainant to contact his bank to prevent suspicious transactions and to notify the Canadian Anti-fraud Centre.

June 12, 7:45 a.m., 7900-block of 82nd Street: Gas tank of parked vehicle siphoned of approximately $100 worth of gas. Police to examine video surveillance for identification of a possible suspect.

June 12, 1 a.m., 4900-block of 47A Avenue: Complainant reported six youth entered his garage and stole several traffic cones. Police located the group and found the cones ditched nearby. Two of the youth were found to be in possession of alcohol and were issued with tickets for possession of alcohol in a public place.
