Crime Beat: Pop-up park vandalized in Ladner

Over the weekend there were a rash of theft of Catalytic Converters from vehicles in the Tilbury area.

Tsawwassen

*July 11, 4455 Clarence Taylor Cres: Complainant attended Police Headquarters to report they had received a suspicious email from PayPal. The email stated the complainant’s PayPal account, which had not been used for several years, had a purchase of several hundred dollars. After police investigation, police advised complainant the email was likely a fraudulent email and to disregard the email.

*July 12, 1400 Block of Gillespie Road: Given the rash of theft from autos in the area, complainant reported a suspicious male in the area. Police located the male, no history of property crime, no offence.

*July 13, Pine Springs Lane: Complainant reported an insecure premise after hearing banging around 4 a.m. and noticed front door open. Residence was supposed to be vacant as it was recently sold. Police attended and observed no signs of forced entry or damage.  Residence cleared and re-secured by police and contact made with owner.

*July 15, ferry terminal: Police were called to a report of a female causing a disturbance at the BC ferry terminal. Ferry terminal staff advised police that the female had become irate when she was unable to pay for her boarding ticket. Female was visibly upset, and had been banned for the day by BC Ferries. Female picked up by friend.

*July 16, 5500 Block 16th Ave: Complainant reported an attempt B&E to residence. Complainant advised the patio door was jimmied, no entry gained and nothing stolen.   

Ladner

*July 11, Tilbury Industrial Park: Over the weekend there were a rash of theft of Catalytic Converters from vehicles in the Tilbury area. One business had catalytic converters stolen from two work vehicles with an approximate damage/repair cost of $1,500 per vehicle.   *July 14, 5700 Block Ladner Trunk Road: Police were called to assist Delta Fire with a female who was being uncooperative after a fall. After ambulance tended to the female, she did not wish any further medical assistance and police walked her to her residence.

*July 15, 4800 Block Delta Street: Police encountered a male sleeping in the entrance way to a store. After talking to the male a query revealed the male had a warrant for assault out of Surrey and was subsequently arrested and transported to cells.

*July 16, 7700 Block of Highway 17: A vehicle travelling at 142 km/h was stopped by police. The driver was charged with excessive speed and the vehicle impounded.

*July 17, Chisholm and Elliot Street: Report of mischief after midnight whereas graffiti was located on chairs at the pier, as well one chair broken. There was also theft from a nearby pop up park around the same time. Police investigating.
