The purpose of the Crime Beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in South Delta and other files of interest. The following are some f the calls the Delta police esponded to in the previus week:

TSAWWASSEN

Nov. 28, 4:09 p.m., 1200-block of 56th Street: Complainant reported their vehicle, which was left unlocked, was rummaged throughout sometime overnight. Items stolen from the vehicle include personal papers, passport, wallet, purse, grey winter jacket and $40 cash. Neighbourhood canvas by police proved negative.

Dec. 2, 7:22 p.m., 1800-block of Golf Club Drive: Report received from complainant that their Christmas laser lawn ornament valued at $55 was stolen sometime overnight. The ornament is described as non-rotating red and green lights.

Dec. 3, 12:40 p.m., 1200-block of 56th Street: A business reported a suspect stole a Weber stainless steel barbecue valued at $1,300 from outside the store. No witnesses to the theft.

LADNER

Dec. 1, 8:04 p.m., 5800-block of Grove Avenue: Complainant reported they accepted a job as a mystery shopper. The shopper received $2,900 to deposit in their account for assessing the customer service of a business. The complainant then transferred $2,500 to an offshore account and kept $400 as payment for services rendered. The cheque subsequently appeared as NSF in the complainant's bank account. Bank to investigate the possible fraud.

Dec. 2, 6:18 a.m., 5100-block of Ladner Trunk Road: Complainant was the victim of identity theft/fraud. A suspect using the complainant's personal information opened accounts in their name, including securing a new access card. The suspect was able to defraud the complainant of more than $11,000 before the fraud was discovered. Incident is still under investigation.

Dec. 2, 11:19 a.m., 6900-block of 72nd Street: A business reported that sometime overnight suspect(s) cut the lock from a propane tank storage cage in the parking lot and stole 10 grey 36L propane tanks. No witnesses or suspects.

Dec. 3, 12:40 p.m., 5600-block of 48B Avenue: Complainant reported their unlocked vehicle was entered sometime overnight and a library audio book valued at $40 was stolen. No damage to
