The Every Penny Counts campaign to purchase a Triple Lumen IV Pump for Delta Hospital's emergency department is coming to an end.

The Delta Hospital Foundation announced this week it will no longer be collecting pennies after Sept. 4.

With the campaign, which has already collected $7,500 in pennies, ending next week, the foundation would like to remind all businesses and individuals that have been collecting on behalf of the hospital to have theirs pennies dropped off to the foundation office before the final penny deposit on Sept. 5.

"There has been tremendous momentum ever since we kick started this penny drive off," said foundation executive director Veronica Carroll.

"The fact that practically every facet of this community, from businesses to families and even elementary and high school classes, has contributed to the campaign underscores how great this community is, how much we all love our hospital and it truly shows that a penny can really go a long way."

Pennies can be dropped off at the foundation office inside Delta Hospital's front entrance in Ladner from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or call 604940-9695 to arrange pick up.

In complex cases at the hospital, patients might need more than one medication administered at once. The Triple Lumen IV Pump can administer up to three medications at a time with greater flexibility and puts less stress on the patient.
