The City of Delta has issued a request for proposals for a the design of a sports field lighting upgrade at Dennison Park in Tsawwassen.

The city is seeking a consultant with experience in lighting upgrade projects with a specific emphasis on the conversion from traditional lighting systems to LED technology.

The existing sports field lighting at the 7A Avenue park was installed in 2005 to provide lighting for a full-sized football field and an adjacent practice pitch.

The successful bidder will be required to deliver a complete detailed design and tender documentation package on or before June 30, 2024.

According to the request for bids, contingent on funding availability, the City of Delta intends to tender the LED upgrade work at Dennison Park in spring of 2025 with the goal of undertaking the physical works that same summer.

The city had also recently issued a request for tenders from qualified electrical contractors to undertake LED lighting conversions and control upgrades for the hockey and curling arenas at the North Delta Recreation Centre.

Timelines will be blocked off for both arenas at the facility. The contractor is to have access to the curling rink on June 10, 2024, with the work to be substantially completed by June 28. Access to the ice rink would be June 29 this year with substantial completion by Aug. 16.
